Mixed Use design

Tasked to design a building that has multiple functions, such as a curator house, a biodiversity centre, and a learning space for students and guests.

The design challenge is to create a cutting-edge "Curator House" with a biodiversity centre and a secondary purpose. The solution incorporates sustainable and vernacular design techniques, blending with the existing campus architecture. Human-centered strategies guided the design, ensuring alignment with user needs.
The Curator House project at the Lapalala Wilderness School reflects a harmonious balance between functionality, environmental stewardship, and cultural identity. Drawing inspiration from the natural world and the life cycle, the design celebrates the interconnectedness of biodiversity, sustainability, and human experience, addressing the school’s educational and ecological goals.
